F1 Track Domination — which driver owned each part of the lap, rendered in 3D, by Formula Dream
Track Domination
Who owned each part of the lap.
One lap time says who was fastest. Track Domination shows where. It takes each selected driver’s fastest lap, splits the circuit into minisectors, and paints every stretch of track in the colour of the driver who owned it, with a share of the lap for each and the best possible lap they add up to.
What does Track Domination show?
A 3D circuit map where every minisector is coloured by the driver who was quickest through it, plus each driver’s share of the lap and the theoretical best lap stitched from all their fastest pieces.
How is domination calculated?
Each driver’s fastest lap is sampled along the racing line and the circuit is divided into small distance slices. For every slice, the tool compares who carried the most speed through it; that driver owns the minisector.
Which sessions and drivers can I compare?
Any Formula 1 qualifying, sprint or race weekend session with telemetry, for any set of two or more drivers. Pick a season, a round, a session and the drivers, and the map rebuilds live.
Is the data real?
Yes. It is built from official Formula 1 live-timing telemetry, the same positional data behind the world feed graphics.
What is the best possible lap?
The lap you would get by stitching together the fastest minisector from any of the selected drivers. It is the theoretical ceiling for that group on that day.
