Madring

The Madring runs through the IFEMA exhibition grounds at Barajas, on the north-eastern edge of Madrid, close enough to the airport that most of the paddock arrives by metro. It is a hybrid in the Miami mould, stitching public roads together with purpose-built sections across ground that is more industrial than scenic. Two tunnels carry the lap beneath an elevated motorway, and a sharp downhill drop through the middle of the lap gives the layout a vertical dimension that a flat street circuit never has.

The lap is built around three distinct moods. The Valdebebas sequence links its corners into a fast, committed run that asks for stability under load. The Bunker is the opposite, a tight technical passage where traction and a car willing to change direction matter more than top speed. Between them sits La Monumental, a long banked curve held to no more than 13.5 degrees, which loads a car through the corner in a way street circuits rarely do.
