The F1 Team Radio Archive is a searchable record of the radio between drivers and their pit walls, 38,911 messages spanning the 2018 to 2026 seasons. You can find any message by driver or by team, play the original audio, and read a transcript that colours itself as it plays: the driver's words in their team colour, the engineer's in white, highlighting word by word in time with the clip.
Why it exists
Team radio is where a race weekend actually gets said out loud, the strategy calls, the frustration, the "leave me alone I know what I'm doing." Broadcast only ever airs a handful of clips. This is the whole conversation, kept and made searchable.
How it works
- Search by driver or team. Pick a driver, e.g. Lewis Hamilton, or a team, and the archive pulls every radio message on file for them.
- Play the original audio. Each entry is the real clip, not a re-recording.
- Read along with the colour-coded transcript. The transcript highlights word by word as the audio plays, and colours each speaker so you can tell at a glance who is talking, the driver in their team colour, the engineer in white.
- Jump to a session. Narrow to a specific weekend or session to revisit the radio from a single race.
A worked example
Say you remember a driver losing patience over the radio but you cannot remember the race. Open their page, scan the transcripts (the colour makes the back-and-forth easy to skim), and play the clip to hear the tone the text cannot carry. In a couple of clicks you have gone from a half-memory to the exact message, with the audio and the words side by side.
How the transcripts are made
Every clip is transcribed and then aligned to its audio so the words light up in time with the speech. Speakers are separated and colour-coded, driver versus engineer, so a fast exchange reads clearly instead of as one wall of text. The aim is that you can either listen, read, or both, and follow it either way.
