Bahrain Grand Prix 2024: Practice 1 team radio
52 radio messages were recorded during practice 1 at the Bahrain Grand Prix 2024, across 17 drivers. Sergio PEREZ had the most, with 8.
These are transcripts of real team radio audio, produced by speech recognition and presented as an archive rather than as edited prose. Radio is clipped and noisy, so wording can be imperfect. Each message is attributed to the driver or their engineer, and the original audio is playable in the archive.

Every message, in the order it happened
ZHOU Guanyu: My brake is not working
Engineer: Go to tire on the multi please, tire on the multi
Engineer: And Landon, I'm sure you will have realised by now the wind is very strong.
Valtteri BOTTAS: Everything as expected and working, just the steering is still a little bit right hand down as per the test. And on the way to the pit box I got the BBW failsafe.
Engineer: Apart from all
Valtteri BOTTAS: that it's all okay with the car.
George RUSSELL: Steering feels very light.
Sergio PEREZ: Yeah, at the moment the brakes were on the side
Engineer: But beside from the starting position maybe a little bit too far away I think let's see what the issue was because yeah, I had no breaks into turn one basically
Daniel RICCIARDO: Yeah, so turn 1 had no rear, so very weak late turn in and traction.
Sergio PEREZ: Yeah, at the moment. The brakes were on the good side, they didn't feel the same as in testing, apart from the final corner.
Sergio PEREZ: And I'm traveling with front end pretty much, very much at all speeds, apart from turn 4 on the way in.
George RUSSELL: Tire is raised with cold, exit at one.
Engineer: OK Span, the lap compared to Pierre looks good all the way through the lap, so let's just keep feeling the balance on the way round.
Esteban OCON: Overheating but the wind is the biggest factor.
Engineer: Oscar, opportunity turn 8 minimum speed, we can go unlimited CSL, purple C7 position 1.
Max VERSTAPPEN: E-everything is ****ed, like, miles off.
Engineer: Understood.
Engineer: OK Joe, we are ready to start our proper session, we have a start going out, so you can select ready mode FLAP, and we suggest one burnout going out.
Engineer: So aero P5 after turn 10 down to 11 and then we're going to do one more aero cruise and box
Max VERSTAPPEN: Still very bad nonsense, Adam, since cars literally jump you.
Engineer: OK, thank you. See if we can sort that out in the garage.
Engineer: I
Carlos SAINZ: think I'll break the last one.
Engineer: That was a good lap.
Engineer: Recharge on is good, red button press, double cool down lap.
Engineer: Any problem corners that we can help with toys? We don't have any reference at the moment on the soft tyre for here
Engineer: Uh, no. I think
Oscar PIASTRI: it's
Engineer: all
Oscar PIASTRI: okay.
Engineer: Fronts are on the low side so a bit of weaving and a bit of brakes before 10.14
Pierre GASLY: Let's check is not just the wind is something of that reaction is not working
Sergio PEREZ: I wish I could fly, but still...
Engineer: Sir, an open question.
Sergio PEREZ: Yeah, we got two clicks
Engineer: It's what you need. It's what will make a faster race car for you
Yuki TSUNODA: I think it was a little bit too much for Perfetti, I had massive understeer there.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Mild throttle or something on the braking.
Engineer: Doesn't look like it, Max.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Then the engine is giving positive torque. Really weird.
Engineer: OK, let's have torque 6 for the next lap. Torque 6. What is that going to do? I'll get back to you.
Daniel RICCIARDO: I don't think we will improve, unless you see others improve, but I don't think so.
Carlos SAINZ: He's struggling with the first part of throttle pickup, turn one.
Charles LECLERC: I was 900m slower on my dash
Esteban OCON: Yeah super inconsistent the car at the moment
Engineer: Yeah, copy that we think it's largely down to the wind and the big changes and gusts around the track
Lando NORRIS: Happy with Strat 7?
Engineer: Strat 7 is correct.
Engineer: Car feedback, we can push minimum speed turn 6 and turn 12 more, minimum speed increase.
Engineer: still clear behind and we'll get the pedal mount changing that is green four position two green four position two
Lewis HAMILTON: Had a strange downshift
Engineer: to
Lewis HAMILTON: turn 10
Engineer: Copy that, we are checking.
Engineer: Ok straight into the run, you keep mode 3 for 1 lap Behind you is PS3, he's doing 38.5
Engineer: Feedback 10-12, very good to start so keep this level
Alexander ALBON: Pedal went long. Very long.
Engineer: Brake pedal.
Lance STROLL: Car's super snappy turn one and two, my god, horrendous.
Engineer: Sector 2, the main losses, turn 8, turn 10.
Yuki TSUNODA: I'm just getting by quite a lot of gusts of wind and I keep doing mistakes, that's
Engineer: it.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Very increasing send down temps again.
Engineer: Understood.
Engineer: Press and hold while you are overtaking.
Engineer: It's breaking turn one and four place to focus
Engineer: Just every time we leave the pit lane we lose gear sync now
Engineer: But try to cool the rear tires
Charles LECLERC: Yeah, that was a good start.
Engineer: I
Charles LECLERC: felt a bit lazy when I went on power and released the clutch
Engineer: And
Charles LECLERC: then I went way too aggressive just because I wanted to check if everything was fine
