Singapore Grand Prix 2018: Practice 3 team radio
27 radio messages were recorded during practice 3 at the Singapore Grand Prix 2018, across 10 drivers. 26 of them have a transcript; the rest are audio only. Max VERSTAPPEN had the most, with 7.
These are transcripts of real team radio audio, produced by speech recognition and presented as an archive rather than as edited prose. Radio is clipped and noisy, so wording can be imperfect. Each message is attributed to the driver or their engineer, and the original audio is playable in the archive.

Engineer: And you can test the drink system drink system test
Pierre GASLY: Steering is bent again.
Engineer: Which direction?
Pierre GASLY: To the right, again.
Engineer: Copy, Pierre. Box, box.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Well, I have false neutral mate false neutral head
Engineer: down shift, please max down shift Remain in neutral if you can please Max track is clear behind. It's it's working again
Max VERSTAPPEN: No, I think it's really grabbing the engine when I come off throttle.
Engineer: Okay, copy.
Engineer: That's for the telly, you were very close in exit of 21, I think you are aware. Yeah, I saw. OK, good, thank you.
Lewis HAMILTON: The feedback at the grip there is quite low.
Engineer: Okay, copy.
Engineer: Recharge on and can you go to damp 13 please that's at nine o'clock on the cook knob
Sebastian VETTEL: Okay, the main limitation for me was the rear, so I'd like to calm the rear down, but I think the track also is lower, and more on the nose than yesterday.
Engineer: Yeah,
Sebastian VETTEL: understood.
Engineer: We
Sebastian VETTEL: have also some good data to show you on your back.
Engineer: This
Lewis HAMILTON: tyre is very poor and
Engineer: not representative at all. Affirm, yeah we understand.
Engineer: I
Lewis HAMILTON: feel it was box
Engineer: Valtteri you've found a reasonable improvement from 3 to lap 1 It's a waste of time Ok
Lewis HAMILTON: I'll try one more
Audio only, no transcript available for this message.
Engineer: And as you know, we are tuned up for two laps in a row. All your switches are good.
Carlos SAINZ: Copy. And
Engineer: how was the balance?
Carlos SAINZ: Still a bit of fantasy in the same corners as yesterday, but nothing that a bit of
Engineer: a
Carlos SAINZ: balance could change. Still, I want to keep going for the moment.
Engineer: Understood.
Brendon HARTLEY: Yeah, copy. In terms of change for the next run, I need the car to be less sharp on entries and combined exits. Car is also not good on the brakes.
Engineer: Copy that, copy that.
Engineer: How's the balance? How's the balance?
Daniel RICCIARDO: Yeah, relatively low grip, nothing too crazy at the moment Understood
Max VERSTAPPEN: The engine is still making so many weird noises, incredible.
Lewis HAMILTON: Need to do better isolating this. Heat coming from somewhere on the right side of my seat.
Engineer: OK, copy.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Yeah, so the second lap the entry was behaving worse than the first one.
Engineer: Okay, understood.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Yeah, I'm get so angry with this the engine is doing its own engine braking
Engineer: Oh, difference, so you were within hundredths of Lewis, so a lap time delta is within hundredths, it's four hundredths different between the two of you. Ferrari are quicker, and most of that gain is in sector one, so you're quicker in sector three, and lose a little bit in sector two, but similar to the loss that Lewis had.
Engineer: And if we could practice the Collier lap.
Lewis HAMILTON: Where am I down to? Am I down to battery?
Engineer: So still turns 14 and 16 Braking 14, apex 16
Fernando ALONSO: I'm happy to box because the
Engineer: traffic is a jungle.
Carlos SAINZ: Ah, too much traffic, so
Engineer: much traffic.
Engineer: Yeah, mate, you know, this, I'm not even going to say it, but it's not reacting like I want to. Just a little bit more feedback, Max. A little bit more feedback is that the product in the back of this car is not working like I want to.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Ah man, Ericsson was not looking in his mirrors.
Engineer: How was the car, Brandon, with the changes?
Brendon HARTLEY: A little bit better, but I'm still suffering with the same issues.
