29 radio messages were recorded during qualifying at the Chinese Grand Prix 2019, across 17 drivers. Kevin MAGNUSSEN had the most, with 4.
These are transcripts of real team radio audio, produced by speech recognition and presented as an archive rather than as edited prose. Radio is clipped and noisy, so wording can be imperfect. Each message is attributed to the driver or their engineer, and the original audio is playable in the archive.

Every message, in the order it happened
Robert KUBICA: I have massive oversteer I don't know what's going on but It's unbelievable how much oversteer I have
Charles LECLERC: Ah, it's
Engineer: a
Charles LECLERC: joke about traffic.
Nico HULKENBERG: Yep, quite pleased with that lap, not that much more in it for now.
Engineer: Copy that, try to focus on recharge please Nico, focus on recharge.
Kevin MAGNUSSEN: Yes, we're at my worst.
Engineer: Which one? Red or white?
Kevin MAGNUSSEN: Yeah, red.
Engineer: So the tires are slightly warmer than the last time so you can afford to do the same or slightly slower lap
George RUSSELL: Sorry guys, rubbish lap. Rubbish, rubbish lap.
Engineer: So P16, I'm afraid, Lance, P16, 1 tenths, 15, 2 tenths gets you to 12.
Engineer: And, for what it's worth, Verstappen is on mediums, Nico, Verstappen head on mediums. Wind is still the same direction as described, so a headwind on the start-finish straight.
Engineer: Check out, rears are slightly on the lower side, so there's room for a slightly quicker outlap for rears, they are on the lower side.
Engineer: I
Lewis HAMILTON: am struggling out here, so maybe even do the first lap and then come in or something like that
Engineer: Yeah copy Lewis, circuit's all clear, so yeah we'll start the lap anyway
Engineer: Yeah, we left our own on the straight, more than a tenth. I was just looking at that, yeah, I don't know what happened yet, come back to you.
Carlos SAINZ: Yeah, I'm a bit surprised we're 14th. I thought we were gonna be 11th without lap, but yeah, not much more guys, a 10th in turn, 11th and 12th, but that's it, 1 10th, better.
Engineer: F**k,
Daniil KVYAT: we didn't kill them today!
Engineer: P-11, Dani P-11, it was close.
Engineer: so Kevin the only thing I'm thinking about is we could just do out and back in on the used tire just to keep our temps up because if we sit for a long time we might cool off a bit just in terms of brake temps and everything okay yeah so we'll do a one time by not a timed lap on the used tire okay no problem
Engineer: In terms of sectors to Valtteri, tenth and a half just under sector one, pretty much zero in the middle sector. You had a strong final corner.
Nico HULKENBERG: How's it looking?
Engineer: OK, you're currently P7. The cars behind have rubbed scrub tyres. You were 30 milliseconds slower than Gasly. He was 8 tenths slower than Leclerc. But all the cars behind, so the midfield guys weren't used? So Ricciardo, Magnussen, Grosjean have all been on scrub tyres, in fact some of them haven't run. So only Danny ran scrub tyres, the other two haven't run.
Engineer: First sector, 0.07 slower, slightly faster on the second sector and 0.05 slower on the third sector.
Engineer: Do not let people buy.
Engineer: Okay, we're all right. So we've got plenty of tire temp. So you have Vettel is the car ahead, Gasly behind. So ahead of Vettel, there's seven cars ahead of you. So we'll back up.
Engineer: 10 second margin, it will be very close Understood
Engineer: And that's full position Valtteri, well done!
Valtteri BOTTAS: That's what I like to hear guys, well done guys!
Engineer: Yeah, let's make sure we finish the job tomorrow!
Engineer: Mate, you need to go now.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Ah mate, f***. I'm finished, right?
Engineer: We are finished.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Yeah, those... They're such b******, honestly. Everybody's just lining up, and they're just f***ing it up. You're just trying to be nice, but everybody's just f***ing it up.
Engineer: Hamilton 51.5 We
Sebastian VETTEL: had it, we had it
Engineer: We
Sebastian VETTEL: know why though, we know why
Engineer: I
Lewis HAMILTON: was up. I was up there, man.
Pierre GASLY: Don't make it negative
Engineer: missed by three seconds
Daniel RICCIARDO: Thanks guys, good effort, good effort, good job.
Charles LECLERC: Come on Charles! Come on!
Engineer: Stupid!
Charles LECLERC: What's the pole-up?
Engineer: Pole-up 31.54
Romain GROSJEAN: What now, we need a gap.
Engineer: We don't have the margin. 20 seconds to go. 15 seconds. 5 seconds.
Romain GROSJEAN: You must be kidding me.
Engineer: You got eight seconds to start the lap. Should be fine. Let's push to get to the start of the lap. We didn't make it. Four of us didn't make it. Okay. Sorry, man.
