Bahrain Grand Prix 2020: Practice 3 team radio
41 radio messages were recorded during practice 3 at the Bahrain Grand Prix 2020, across 15 drivers. George RUSSELL had the most, with 7.
These are transcripts of real team radio audio, produced by speech recognition and presented as an archive rather than as edited prose. Radio is clipped and noisy, so wording can be imperfect. Each message is attributed to the driver or their engineer, and the original audio is playable in the archive.

Every message, in the order it happened
Engineer: Multi GX3, Multi GX3
Engineer: Ok Kimi, traffic is good, everything looks good so far, and nobody behind, mode push when you're ready.
Engineer: OK, give me more charge and we will need a slow charge please.
Engineer: Ok, you can start to work a bit on your brakes, on the cold side. Traffic is still good.
Engineer: The
Kimi RAIKKONEN: only issue is that they have a lot of vibration.
Engineer: Copy that, you think.
Engineer: Managed through 567, copy, that'll just be the beacon, so managed through 567, a lot more than last time
Engineer: Okay, we'll take the slow lap, plus 40, 4-0, drop the rear, maintain the front, still quiet on track. So that first lap was two tenths behind Raikkonen, and two and a half tenths quicker than Nicholas.
George RUSSELL: Quite oversteery turn four and then entry of six as well
Engineer: Multi B, shift 4, shift 4
Lando NORRIS: Bipon find, two
Engineer: burnouts, second gear launch.
Carlos SAINZ: I cannot synchronize first gear, I don't know
Engineer: Copy, no problem
Engineer: Carlos, wind looks a bit stronger than P2, not as bad as P1.
Engineer: I don't know what to say. Just watch for Keres coming past you now. Why
Romain GROSJEAN: am I having so much of a different looking issue now? Watch for Russell. Two behind. Watch for Russell.
Carlos SAINZ: Yeah, a lot of snaps in mid-corner.
Engineer: Yeah, so the wind has changed quite a bit. There is now wind from the outside in turn 4 and more tailwind in the entry of turn 8. Suggest mid-toggle for turn 8 and turn 13. Mid-toggle turn 8 and 13, radio still open.
Engineer: Alix will push at the end of this lap.
Max VERSTAPPEN: OK, bit of understood high speed.
Engineer: Understood, and saw the D-rate at the end of the lap as well. Dab, engine 9, position 6 please, engine 9, position 6.
Engineer: Main lost to Valtteri, minimum speed turn 8
Sebastian VETTEL: Okay, that was a waste with Russell, I don't know what the hell he was doing
Engineer: How is traction today? Low speed?
Max VERSTAPPEN: Yeah, better. About a bit.
Engineer: Okay we think you can brake five meters later into turn 13, that's what Daniel's doing, and into the last corner maybe rolling off a little bit too much speed going in there, otherwise all good.
Engineer: Just remember,
Lewis HAMILTON: there's a bit of clay in my steering rack.
Engineer: Okay, copy.
Engineer: Box all right stay out stay out, please finish the lap
Engineer: And cancel DRS please Max, cancel your DRS, cancel DRS.
Engineer: So Danny, turn 8, we can push slightly more at the entry, exit was good, and turn 13 the same, you are good to push, offset 7.
Engineer: OK, Span, you're going to box to do a burnout from the box, using the overtake button, and then we'll do a start at the end of the pit lane. So I'm going to ask you to stop before the box please, stop before the box to put rubber through it.
Esteban OCON: You mean the burnout button?
Engineer: Yeah, use the burnout button, sorry, burnout button. Copy, yeah. Definitely overtake wouldn't be a good idea.
Sergio PEREZ: similar targets yeah
Engineer: so we're okay to drop another five to eight degrees on the tyres so they're all happy to let these drop a bit
Engineer: We need three tire warming, overtake button and three tire warming Target is baseline minus two baseline minus two Mode three for the start
George RUSSELL: Roll by me to reset brake balance, starting the lap.
Engineer: Ok Dani, we need to do a test, so you stop in the box, where the mechanics are waiting for you, we put the neutral, and you pull the clutch, and then I will let you know when release it.
Engineer: okay that's a 9 10th game we'll take the slow lap plus 44.0 same again dropping rear let's get hpp on try and get some full throttle recharge and we'll do the brake warming out of turn 10.
George RUSSELL: Was BVAL okay turn 9-10?
Engineer: Let's get the brake warming done on the button
George RUSSELL: Sorry mate, I was focusing on the recharge, can I do it out of 11?
Engineer: Yep that's fine, and HPP off
Engineer: So currently a P1, Valtteri P2, one tenth behind. Valtteri had a tow starting his lap that bought him two tenths of a second.
Engineer: And
Lewis HAMILTON: where was I down then?
Engineer: Note to Valtteri, you gained pretty much everywhere. Did I lose at the last corner or something? No, last corner looks good. Yeah, looks like you're gaining on the majority of the exits. Yeah, the only place that Valtteri's faster than you is just with that toe on that last lap. It was 0.14 gain to you. Maybe
Lewis HAMILTON: 10.11 could be better.
Engineer: So just do it with a little bit more PU load. If anything, it's a bit minimum speed, turn 6.
Lewis HAMILTON: Yep, cool.
Engineer: Carlos, do you want continuous laps? If so, it would be Scenario 10, Scenario 10 and Sock 8.
Engineer: And mode. Oh, I'm all up.
Charles LECLERC: I'm all up.
Engineer: Mode charge. Mode charge.
Engineer: tires are pretty good it's just the brakes. I think our one ahead is going to pit so it's just Vettel. We will need a bit of brake temp checker. You were pretty marginal last time with only the one brake
Engineer: and your temperatures will continue to drop so start the last lap you're about minus 3 minus 7 so that's where you were last time minus 3 minus 7 front and rear so just think about what you want to do differently this time
Daniil KVYAT: Ok, I had a big moment, so, abort. Yeah, I went off track, but I didn't hit any kerb or anything, so it
Engineer: should be ok.
Engineer: okay clear behind the go
George RUSSELL: switch yep
Engineer: we can go yeah we want the velum out of turn three the velum two you can just stay and go race it's fine
Engineer: We're still happy to lose some tyre temp. How's the pace? We're currently P10, but 3 tenths, which is what you lost, would put you P5.
Engineer: Feedback on clutch, on target.
Engineer: recharge on and cool the car please we are boxed this lap and feedback from Peter on target initial throttle good drive out good excellent job
