British Grand Prix 2018: Practice 1 team radio
16 radio messages were recorded during practice 1 at the British Grand Prix 2018, across 11 drivers. 15 of them have a transcript; the rest are audio only. Max VERSTAPPEN had the most, with 2.
These are transcripts of real team radio audio, produced by speech recognition and presented as an archive rather than as edited prose. Radio is clipped and noisy, so wording can be imperfect. Each message is attributed to the driver or their engineer, and the original audio is playable in the archive.

Engineer: How do you feel the truck? Do you feel the truck very bumpy?
Lance STROLL: Yeah, it's really bumpy
Charles LECLERC: Why is it so, so much, how do you say it, I mean the parking stop for the pit stop is not straight, why don't we put it straighter?
Engineer: Radio check, and tight line turn 3 and turn 4. Radio check. Radio is good, track is clear behind.
Audio only, no transcript available for this message.
Engineer: Please check for vibrations
Engineer: OK Brandon, vibrations, from which axle can you feel vibrations? Yeah, through the whole car, so I'm not sure if it's the new track surface.
Engineer: Check out, get good braking, get good braking in before the beginning of the lap.
Stoffel VANDOORNE: My brake pedal feels quite long. Can you check if everything is fine?
Engineer: Yeah, we're checking. Stoffel brake system looks okay, brake system looks okay. Still looking at pedal length, but no concern to start a timed lap.
Max VERSTAPPEN: I quickly recharged, because I got disturbed.
Engineer: OK.
Stoffel VANDOORNE: Balance is quite wrong in the low speed corners, quite a lot of understeer.
Engineer: OK copy, we'll see what we can do with toys.
Carlos SAINZ: I'm going to do a build-up, not very good temperature there.
Engineer: OK, understood.
Carlos SAINZ: Yeah, I can confirm I can open the DRS after turn 1.
Engineer: OK, understood.
Engineer: Oh, he just backed off in front of me. Yeah, not nice.
Engineer: So, Niko, some information for you. If you manually close DRS before turn one, but stay flat through the corner, you can reopen it afterwards manually.
Nico HULKENBERG: OK, happy. That's what I thought, actually.
Lewis HAMILTON: This is the Bumby S-track, Vinnahallam.
Engineer: OK, copy.
Fernando ALONSO: Magnussen tried to hit me two times, in one and three, I don't know what he thinks, so we need to tell the stewards, very dangerous driving.
Engineer: OK, understood.
