Chinese Grand Prix 2018: Practice 3 team radio
28 radio messages were recorded during practice 3 at the Chinese Grand Prix 2018, across 15 drivers. Stoffel VANDOORNE had the most, with 3.
These are transcripts of real team radio audio, produced by speech recognition and presented as an archive rather than as edited prose. Radio is clipped and noisy, so wording can be imperfect. Each message is attributed to the driver or their engineer, and the original audio is playable in the archive.

Every message, in the order it happened
Engineer: So straight out and you can push, just be careful for track conditions.
Engineer: I have your position stopped, just no data from the car, so if you feel anything strange, let us know.
Engineer: I don't know,
Kimi RAIKKONEN: what's happening with this bus?
Kevin MAGNUSSEN: Was he already on a push love?
Engineer: Yeah, they are on a push love probably he's trying something similar to us Yeah, I've locked him
Engineer: Yeah, I think I need another lap to get used to these neutral conditions. OK, no problem.
Engineer: It's tailwind 10-7, tailwind 10-7
Pierre GASLY: Balance is not great, partially in high speed
Kevin MAGNUSSEN: Is the track faster or slower than yesterday?
Engineer: For what we see now, the track is around alpha second to one second slower than yesterday, but not many samples. Our pace looks pretty good, I would say.
Engineer: Okay Stoffel, we've lost telemetry again, we've lost telemetry, we need to box, box this lap.
Engineer: Ok Brendan, I think the balance is not too bad and is coming to us with the track improving
Kevin MAGNUSSEN: This place here is just loose, nigga.
Engineer: So we're seeing 20 kph tailwind into turn 14, so it looks like the snaps turn 2 when the wind goes from headwind to tail.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Yeah I had a lot of oversteer, I'm back out
Engineer: Yeah be aware that is a function of the tailwind through the latter end of turn 1, 2 and into 3 max
Engineer: And just have a slow in lap, because rear brakes are too hot. The rear brakes are hot, so just come into the box easy. Yeah, I can see smoke. Yeah, okay, we're ready with extinguishers and everything.
Engineer: So just be aware, into turn 1 you have a headwind all the way in and then as you get around towards turn 2 you do get a tailwind people are struggling with oversteer late turn 2 so just be aware of that. You'll have good front in 1, good grip and then it will go towards oversteer as you get towards turn 2. OK.
Daniel RICCIARDO: I got an issue, I got an issue.
Engineer: Mode one, mode one. There's fire at the back. OK, mode one boxes that.
Engineer: Checo there's potentially oil on track from 14 until the pit entry, Ricciardo's had engine failure, he's on the grass.
Engineer: All the changes we did were in the right direction. I definitely could have gone quicker.
Engineer: Right, so I think we will box. We're not going to get anywhere with these tie-tips
Engineer: It's
Lance STROLL: starting to rain a little bit, like just sprinkle.
Engineer: Okay, where did that start?
Lance STROLL: 12, 13, back straight a little bit, just a little bit. Okay.
Engineer: Nice work Fernando, nice work. Lovely on TV. So boxers lap please, boxers lap.
Engineer: Currently P11. That's pretty good given that that was about the most disrupted run you could possibly have. P11.
Engineer: The biggest loss to Vettel and Valtteri is Final Sector.
Pierre GASLY: I need to do something for the rear because, especially in S3, it's really bad. And the car is really disconnected between one corner to another. There's something wrong with the rear of the car on the bump in Turn 8.
Engineer: I
Nico HULKENBERG: think we should have about it soon because it's just way thick mileage. Yeah. Clear where this is going.
Engineer: Copy that, Nico. Stand by. OK, Nico. We'll box this lap, please. Box this lap.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Yeah, the engine, I don't know what the f*** is going on there.
Engineer: What's up Max?
Max VERSTAPPEN: All the time when I get close to the limit I'm just losing speed. I don't want to do another fast lap, I'm not sure it's healthy. I said this already last year back, same kind of things happening now.
Brendon HARTLEY: Yeah, sorry I put the wrong
Engineer: Put
Brendon HARTLEY: the wrong toggle for turn 12 so that I had a huge snap Had a couple mistakes as well, but to be honest the tyre doesn't last for the second lap, I have to do it on lap one
Pierre GASLY: Massive loss of grip. Massive.
Engineer: We are looking at it, Pierre. We are looking at it.
