Bahrain Grand Prix 2019: Qualifying team radio
39 radio messages were recorded during qualifying at the Bahrain Grand Prix 2019, across 17 drivers. 38 of them have a transcript; the rest are audio only. Carlos SAINZ had the most, with 5.
These are transcripts of real team radio audio, produced by speech recognition and presented as an archive rather than as edited prose. Radio is clipped and noisy, so wording can be imperfect. Each message is attributed to the driver or their engineer, and the original audio is playable in the archive.

Every message, in the order it happened
Alexander ALBON: It's twitchy Yeah, we're still struggling with over-rotation, that's for sure Let's keep it, let's keep it for the next one
Engineer: Copy that, box to box
Engineer: OK Kimi, some issues on the TPMS, but the front left and rear right are working.
Engineer: Tyres looking good, tyres looking good, couple of breaks down this straight, watch out for Magnussen behind, keep him behind, watch him.
Engineer: Ok Carlos, good start, recharge on and box this lap. You are P3, you're actually ahead of Hamilton. P4 now.
Lando NORRIS: Sky just blocked me in
Engineer: the
Lando NORRIS: final zone.
Romain GROSJEAN: We got completely
Engineer: ****ed
Romain GROSJEAN: by the Ferrari on the outside.
Engineer: We saw, we saw.
Engineer: Checo give us your feedback, give us your feedback, Reichen at 6 behind.
Sergio PEREZ: It felt as if I had a puncture on the rear left. The car was rolling quite a bit and taking a lot of lightning out of the left rear. So the right hand corners were quite hard.
Engineer: Box box box Valtteri, we're gonna go again with another set
Engineer: What do you want me to do about traffic? So just let these guys go, no? No, stay where you are now. Stay where you are. Too late?
Lance STROLL: They're going too fast. Well...
Engineer: Those cars will slow in the final sector, Lance. Tires are already OK. Fronts can cool down a bit more.
George RUSSELL: Copy. Tires were well out of the window. That was fuel.
Engineer: OK on the fuel.
Robert KUBICA: Yeah, the front tires were too cold and I saw something fluid flying away from my car
Engineer: from front axle
Lewis HAMILTON: They've got 10 cars in front of me
Engineer: Ok Alex, same again with the traffic, open an early gap in the lap, turn 1, turn 4 in the low speed, so you can deal with it in the last sector.
Alexander ALBON: Copy, will these tyres be harder to warm up than the new tyres? Or easier?
Engineer: Slightly harder, slightly, but we are really close to target out of garage.
Audio only, no transcript available for this message.
Engineer: Both cars behind you on a slow lap and box box.
Charles LECLERC: Copy.
Sebastian VETTEL: Okay, that was the worst spot ever.
Engineer: And we go again. We need to go again.
Sebastian VETTEL: You sure it's not enough?
Engineer: We are monitoring, but we need to prepare to go.
Engineer: Something broke on the car, on the left side, I think one of the badge ports. Check again, run switch delta, run switch delta.
Engineer: We need to push more, weaving, we need weaving
Engineer: Ok, I'm afraid Alex, that's gonna be it for us, currently P12.
Pierre GASLY: I can't put the throttle down, I don't know why, I get snaps everywhere
Kevin MAGNUSSEN: brought us massive in the way understood
Engineer: understood we'll report it just finished the lap
Daniil KVYAT: Why do I have used tires?
Engineer: Okay box box Danny box
Daniil KVYAT: Can we change the tires?
Engineer: No, that's it. We don't have time.
Daniil KVYAT: What was that, guys?
Engineer: Ok Kimi, we believe the oversteer you have in 6 is not due to the PT map.
Engineer: next car in front Hamilton 30 seconds on an out lap and Norris behind pushing 24 seconds so you're on a good spot
Engineer: Magnussen is faster, he ran a new tyre, you're the fastest of the used tyre runners.
Engineer: OK, Kevin, so we'll box now. Box, just watch the Weybridge lights.
Kevin MAGNUSSEN: OK, box.
Carlos SAINZ: I will not use Stargear I think
Engineer: Do
Carlos SAINZ: you want to go SOC 6 again? Ok, Carlos we like SOC 7 anyway, SOC 7 is good whatever gear
Engineer: Ok, we need a bit of breaks as usual, and you have a good gap to notice, 3 seconds.
Engineer: Cars are fairly well equally spaced, so I wouldn't expect anyone to back themselves up too much down to turn 15. Make sure you weight the tyres up. It can stress the fronts a little bit more.
Engineer: Ok, it will be more charge, more charge, not a bad lap. I'll let you know what's happening, we are P5 currently.
Engineer: Ok Carlos, currently your P5, Vettel, Bottas, Hamilton, there's a few cars still to set laps.
Charles LECLERC: Yes! Come on, grandissimi! Tomorrow is the race and it's where we score points, but it's a good beginning. Thanks guys, the car was amazing. I'll push to try and finish the job tomorrow.
Sebastian VETTEL: Ok, good job guys. Well done. Main thing is we got the job done.
Engineer: So,
Sebastian VETTEL: certainly Q2 was not ideal, not having a shot in the end. We lost a bit in the second sector, losing the rear.
Engineer: Okay, that's P5 just it's a decent lap
Kevin MAGNUSSEN: Ah for
Engineer: stopping got p5 by point zero zero five Anyway, anyway, good job man. It's p6 man p6. Yeah, good job, man. Yeah, really great Really good incredible quality, man Sorry about the last lap. I should have had that good job guys
Engineer: Thank you dude, we are P8, P8. Good job man, good job.
Engineer: Carlos with P7 Verstappen got you just at the end half a tenth so Verstappen's P5 Magnus and P6 both within half a tenth but good job mate P7 we can have a good race from there
