Singapore Grand Prix 2019: Practice 2 team radio

22 radio messages were recorded during practice 2 at the Singapore Grand Prix 2019, across 15 drivers. Carlos SAINZ had the most, with 3.

These are transcripts of real team radio audio, produced by speech recognition and presented as an archive rather than as edited prose. Radio is clipped and noisy, so wording can be imperfect. Each message is attributed to the driver or their engineer, and the original audio is playable in the archive.

    Engineer: Copy that, check

Sebastian VETTEL: marker button and upshift between 13 and 14 and also 14 and 15 I think it was either 5th to 6th or 6th to 7th for 13 to 14

  7. Lando NORRISMcLaren

Engineer: and focus on throttle pickup out of turn five

  8. Valtteri BOTTASMercedes

  9. Carlos SAINZMcLaren

Engineer: Okay, that's another good lap on a used tire. The car behind will be Leclerc, 14 seconds. Carlos, we're now P7. Perez is ahead of us, but he's already run a soft.

Carlos SAINZ: Yeah, I'm quite happy with the car, mate. Especially that lap. Less rear grip, but still a decent lap.

  10. George RUSSELLWilliams

Engineer: OK, we'll take the slow lap, target plus 40 on a single slope, still two cars on track, that was a good sector too, that was minus 0.8 relative to your first run, so target plus 40, 4-0, dropping rear.

  11. Max VERSTAPPENRed Bull

Max VERSTAPPEN: My last sector got compromised quite a bit.

Engineer: Yep, that's fine. Remember what we discussed.

Charles LECLERC: Yeah, the traffic is horrendous. Copy, understood. You can do another charge lap if you want and then a push. They need to get out the way though.

    Engineer: I

Charles LECLERC: don't know, it's dangerous like this.

  14. Carlos SAINZMcLaren

Engineer: Ok Carlos, you know what we want to achieve with this tyre, so set your status accordingly. A bit of brake warm up if you can.

  15. Carlos SAINZMcLaren

Engineer: Take care as it may be hot but check the drinks check the drinks

  16. George RUSSELLWilliams

Engineer: The ref lap is 47.3 from the high fuel quality lap, so 47.3, that's okay.

  17. Kevin MAGNUSSENHaas

Engineer: Kevin, we need lifting coast for brake temps 1, 7, 14, 16. And how is the tire? How is the tire?

Kevin MAGNUSSEN: So far, it's okay.

  18. Valtteri BOTTASMercedes

Engineer: HPP 3, set position 1, increase lift and coast for caliper temps, Lewis 44.8 on the soft.
