Singapore Grand Prix 2023: Practice 1 team radio
29 radio messages were recorded during practice 1 at the Singapore Grand Prix 2023, across 15 drivers. 28 of them have a transcript; the rest are audio only. Carlos SAINZ had the most, with 3.
These are transcripts of real team radio audio, produced by speech recognition and presented as an archive rather than as edited prose. Radio is clipped and noisy, so wording can be imperfect. Each message is attributed to the driver or their engineer, and the original audio is playable in the archive.

Every message, in the order it happened
Carlos SAINZ: Which use brakes are they, rookie?
Engineer: They're not the Monza, Monza? No, no, no, they're out of the pool, and they are from Belgium, good warm-up on the brakes, anyway.
George RUSSELL: Bump apex of 7
Engineer: I
Valtteri BOTTAS: can confirm the right is good, straight and also level of bottom, no problem, copy,
Engineer: copy, good.
ZHOU Guanyu: Something smells a little bit smoky, but I don't know.
Engineer: Copy, John. We're checking.
ZHOU Guanyu: The Wraith is going after the 2 push. Copy.
Alexander ALBON: Car feels a bit lazy, that's my main feeling right now.
Engineer: Copy that.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Okay, quite aggressive downshifts, and I struggle a bit to exit all the time, a lot of movies stare in every corner basically.
Sergio PEREZ: Struggle to see the apexes, so I might need to come up a bit with the seat.
Engineer: And Oscar, how's the balance?
Oscar PIASTRI: Yeah, it's slowly getting there, slowly getting more regrouped, but it's just low group conditions at the moment.
Max VERSTAPPEN: In the low speed, from max steering angle to opening up, I just have no traction and no missteer.
Engineer: Understood.
Charles LECLERC: I saw some instability and breaking. Do you think the last lap was going in the right direction?
Engineer: I will come back to you.
Lando NORRIS: I struggled a little bit with the ride from the rear in the last corner, just when I clipped the kerb, but generally everything else is okay. Slow speed ride, I would say I'm pretty happy. Probably the place I struggle the most is, I have no idea what corner number, like the left hander when you use no brakes, 10.8 or something, 10.8 I think.
Engineer: Cool.
Engineer: Any final comments on balance or all right?
Esteban OCON: Very easy very very easy with right at the moment guy is very comfortable
Engineer: Oh, there's
Max VERSTAPPEN: a lizard again on the track, a smaller one this time.
Engineer: Okay, understood. Maybe Godzilla had a kid.
Max VERSTAPPEN: I mean, that makes sense.
Engineer: And Lando, Russell and Leclerc used half a tyre. What do you mean used half a tyre? What
Lando NORRIS: does that mean?
Engineer: Half a tyre on the yellow in turn one.
Lando NORRIS: Oh, okay.
Engineer: oh
Yuki TSUNODA: there's
Engineer: a
Yuki TSUNODA: reset oh my god sorry i have to remote
Pierre GASLY: Godzilla is back
Engineer: Yeah, copy
Valtteri BOTTAS: There's a lizard, a big one. Aha, ok. It was on track, didn't want to move. Copy, it's a brave lizard.
Audio only, no transcript available for this message.
Lando NORRIS: There's a lizard thingy out of turn 8.
Engineer: Ok, understood. There's yellow flags for the dragon thingy in turn 8.
Engineer: After a double cool, people are going a couple of tenths faster than the first push.
Engineer: in terms of sectors it's two and a half tenths sector one four and a half in the middle uh it's just half a tenth in the final that is to Leclerc
Lewis HAMILTON: it's eight tenths where's that come from
Engineer: it looks like turn eight is the biggest loss i'm sorry turn nine
George RUSSELL: He's
Engineer: a
George RUSSELL: b****.
Kevin MAGNUSSEN: Maybe another lizard another lizard. Yeah
Carlos SAINZ: Another Lizard in turn 9
Engineer: Copy that, reporting
George RUSSELL: And there's
Engineer: a
George RUSSELL: little bit of
Engineer: football this
George RUSSELL: time.
Yuki TSUNODA: Oh, hi again.
Charles LECLERC: This lizard is having his best life.
Engineer: Track slippery at turn 9 to 10. The Lizard is still in the area.
Sergio PEREZ: I don't see him.
Engineer: Between 9 and 10.
Sergio PEREZ: Ah yeah, on the entry I saw him. Just taking the sunshine.
