Austrian Grand Prix 2024: Practice 1 team radio
28 radio messages were recorded during practice 1 at the Austrian Grand Prix 2024, across 12 drivers. Max VERSTAPPEN had the most, with 6.
These are transcripts of real team radio audio, produced by speech recognition and presented as an archive rather than as edited prose. Radio is clipped and noisy, so wording can be imperfect. Each message is attributed to the driver or their engineer, and the original audio is playable in the archive.

Every message, in the order it happened
Lando NORRIS: Steering reminds me a little bit of Miami, a little bit harder to turn right, much easier to turn left.
Engineer: Okay, understood.
Yuki TSUNODA: I might not like this steering column. Feels weird.
Engineer: Understood.
Max VERSTAPPEN: In general, like, low speed, like, low to medium, quite low grip on entries.
Engineer: Understood.
Yuki TSUNODA: Is there any front lock, rear lock, turn 3?
Engineer: We have rear lock, end of brake, turn 3. Ayuki, from data we see tailwind turn 1, 3 and 6, I know it's strange but it's like that, and the biggest tailwind is turn 1.
Pierre GASLY: I feel some pulling on braking now, you
Engineer: can check front right again. Yeah, we'll look into that.
Nico HULKENBERG: Oh, he's big energy D-rate. Exit to the last corner.
Engineer: Copy that. We'll check.
Engineer: Time difference to the other car six seven mainly turn nine again. Let's see if this extra flap helps us
Nico HULKENBERG: All these crybabies here with the traffic
Nico HULKENBERG: I avoided, but I didn't know that Ferrari's under lap. Yeah.
Engineer: Watch for Verstappen pushing.
Nico HULKENBERG: All these crybabies here with the traffic.
Engineer: Are you happy with the car, question?
Charles LECLERC: Not completely, but let's click inside the box.
Charles LECLERC: I'm just having very little grip in slow speed.
Engineer: So we'll think about a change.
Yuki TSUNODA: It's not possible to change steering column right?
Engineer: Not now, we need end of session.
George RUSSELL: Yeah, that was good. We'll set both the cars out together again, mate.
Engineer: Turn 9-10, reduce speed slightly, sergeant 0.7
Max VERSTAPPEN: Well, over engine... what does it say? Engine fault?
Engineer: Stand by.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Well, I have a engine... what does it say? Engine fault?
Engineer: Stand by.
Engineer: Just sit tight in the car for the moment please Max
Max VERSTAPPEN: The only thing I changed was the high-speed diff. One click and then suddenly this came up. I don't know if it's related.
Engineer: Okay, stand by.
Max VERSTAPPEN: The only thing I changed was the high-speed diff, one click and then suddenly this came up, I don't know if it's related.
Engineer: Okay, stand by.
Engineer: Just
George RUSSELL: a very low brake pressure here stopping behind Lewis. I felt the disc sort of a little bit warped Similar to that Singapore feeling
Engineer: front brakes
Yuki TSUNODA: That was so scary man, I
Engineer: thought that was so dangerous. Yeah, so that
Engineer: OK, Daniel, we'd like to make a change to the course, so we wanted to make sure we have the time for it.
Daniel RICCIARDO: OK.
Logan SARGEANT: I'm still vibrating, so it's not the tire.
Engineer: Copy.
Yuki TSUNODA: I forgot to inspect the data.
ZHOU Guanyu: Vibration of the tires is still there. It's not a lot of base there since the out
Engineer: Copy
Alexander ALBON: There's a big offset between our front items and our rear items, the rear was very good the whole lap and the front just wasn't there so ideally I don't want to be doing any quicker on the out lap for the rear but the front needs it.
Engineer: OK understood, we'll have a look at it.
Engineer: So our lap time is 6.95, other car 6.55. It's one tenth sector one, three and a half sector two, and you are faster one tenth last sector.
Engineer: S1 go P2 please, we can P2
Esteban OCON: Yes, but just chill, I mean it's only a start on the hard, I mean I know it's important but it's ok I
Engineer: appreciate that mate, yeah, I'm trying to tick a lot of boxes and it's... No but that's not the most important really Yeah no I understand
