Dutch Grand Prix 2024: Practice 3 team radio

38 radio messages were recorded during practice 3 at the Dutch Grand Prix 2024, across 14 drivers. Daniel RICCIARDO had the most, with 6.

These are transcripts of real team radio audio, produced by speech recognition and presented as an archive rather than as edited prose. Radio is clipped and noisy, so wording can be imperfect. Each message is attributed to the driver or their engineer, and the original audio is playable in the archive.

Who was on the radio

Every message, in the order it happened

  1. Kevin MAGNUSSENHaas

Engineer: Mode K2 please, mode K2, or mode push in fact, mode push.

  2. Nico HULKENBERGHaas

Nico HULKENBERG: Where's E1? I think he took additions already.

  3. Carlos SAINZFerrari

Engineer: All clear, all clear, same brakes as FP2

  4. Daniel RICCIARDORB

Engineer: On Daniel, keep us posted on track, on tires, but we are happy to do one's past.

  5. Daniel RICCIARDORB

Daniel RICCIARDO: Yeah, I'll think I'll box this lot.

  6. Daniel RICCIARDORB

Engineer: Cool with that. Do you think we risk damaging this tyre a little bit with the conditions?

Daniel RICCIARDO: Yeah, I'd say so.

    Engineer: Understood. Box, box.

  7. Carlos SAINZFerrari

Engineer: So this means less headwind into turn 11.

  8. George RUSSELLMercedes

Engineer: So currently a yellow flag turn 11, that's Hulkenberg, and he's stopped there currently. So it looks like Hulkenberg might be at the wall at turn 11. So he's got a broken front wing, he is moving though. So yellow has cleared, but just keep an eye out for debris, potential front wing debris, from turn 12 onwards. Bring it back to the pits now.

  9. Fernando ALONSOAston Martin

Engineer: So there is a bit of debris on the left-hand side between 12 and 13. So debris left-hand side, 12 to 13.

  10. Nico HULKENBERGHaas

Nico HULKENBERG: It's again the same as yesterday. I touch the brake and lock up.

  11. George RUSSELLMercedes

    Engineer: The

George RUSSELL: Brits aren't fighting so well at the moment.

  12. Oscar PIASTRIMcLaren

Engineer: So possible debris on the inside of 12 after the apex off the racing line

  13. Daniel RICCIARDORB

Engineer: And we can keep pushing another lap, tyres are still coming up, slightly below still.

  14. Daniel RICCIARDORB

Engineer: Yeah traffic. He's outlapped, he's outlapped. He has to let you by. Keep pushing. He's outlapped. Go past this. He has to let you by.

  15. George RUSSELLMercedes

Engineer: And happy to keep our attempts roughly where they are.

  16. Esteban OCONAlpine

Esteban OCON: I don't have the tyre temperature as normal. I have them as numbers, not delta.

Engineer: OK, so we're boxing now and copy that. Yes, we see that is part of the intended structure on the dashboard.

  17. Oscar PIASTRIMcLaren

Engineer: OK, that's good, tyre pressures are all OK, everything good your side?

Oscar PIASTRI: Yeah, be a red flag now.

Engineer: Yeah, copy, so Delta positive, we've boxed this lap.

Oscar PIASTRI: Copy, yeah obviously, need to check the floor.

  18. Esteban OCONAlpine

Esteban OCON: The pit limiter was oscillating quite a lot.

Engineer: OK, copy that. OK, I'll give you some feedback on a few things when we're plugged in.

  19. Logan SARGEANTWilliams

Engineer: Are you okay? Are you okay?

    Logan SARGEANT: I'm good.

Engineer: Okay. You're okay. That's what matters. Car is on fire, mate. Car is on fire. So you should jump out. Jump out. Car is on fire at the rear of the car.

  20. George RUSSELLMercedes

Engineer: Got a double yellow, we're going to go red I suspect here out of turn four, so there's been an accident. Sargent, he's on the left-hand side of the circuit but there is debris across all of the track so just caution where you are.

  21. Fernando ALONSOAston Martin

Engineer: Okay Fernandez, red flag, slow down, slow down. So Sargent is off turn four, it's quite a big one so just be careful going through that. Keep to the right hand side, keep to the right hand side. Sargent has come on ready to say he's okay.

  22. George RUSSELLMercedes

George RUSSELL: He's on fire, he needs to jump out.

Engineer: There's also a tyre moving down the middle, rolling down the middle of the circuit. The driver's okay.

George RUSSELL: Yeah, he's okay, but the car's on fire.

  23. Charles LECLERCFerrari

Engineer: Sergeant had quite a big crash in turns 4-5. Is he OK? Yes, he's OK. Very good.

  24. Daniel RICCIARDORB

Engineer: Double yellow 10-4, oh big crash, big crash and sergeant said he's ok, on the radio

Daniel RICCIARDO: Ok, yep, they need some fire marshals

  25. Lewis HAMILTONMercedes

    Engineer: It's still CPC.

  26. Lando NORRISMcLaren

Engineer: So, Lando, they've delayed the restart time for another two minutes. With the fans in, we can't just sit like this.

  27. Pierre GASLYAlpine

Engineer: Alright Pierre, we're fired up, we're just holding with fans in, we still can't go yet according to the FIA, but we will go immediately as soon as we get the green, all cars are in the garage, in the same position as us, at the minute it says 12.27 restart, so that will be with 3 minutes remaining, so it will be time for one push lap.

  28. Lando NORRISMcLaren

Engineer: Right, we're gonna go with you so go down the ending keepers

  29. Lando NORRISMcLaren

Engineer: 30 seconds to go happen to fire the car up DRS is disabled

  30. Esteban OCONAlpine

Engineer: Just a warning at the end of the lap everyone is going to try and come past you at the end

  31. Pierre GASLYAlpine

Engineer: so let's go mate we want recharge off and fast out lap

  32. Max VERSTAPPENRed Bull

Engineer: likely scenario is Max that we will not get a time-lapse but you can push once you take the checkered flag

  33. Nico HULKENBERGHaas

Engineer: Yep, BC 7 is good and remember mode push mode push you'll get one timed

  34. Oscar PIASTRIMcLaren

Engineer: And Oscar, obviously it would be nice to get a lap, but be realistic as well, this isn't qualifying.

  35. Lando NORRISMcLaren

Engineer: And that's the checkered flag. So Lando, if you would like to do a launch, we can stay out to do a launch. If it's going to affect your references for a dry launch, then we suggest not doing it.

  36. Oscar PIASTRIMcLaren

Engineer: Oscar there is the opportunity to do a launch here on the Inter. We have the learning we need for the clutch so it's really whether you want to learn about the Inter launch yourself. If it would affect your references for a dry launch which is our expectation for tomorrow I would suggest not. If you think it's good learning we're happy to do it.

Oscar PIASTRI: Yeah I'm pretty happy to do the launch.

    Engineer: Copy.

  37. George RUSSELLMercedes

Engineer: So three burnouts, but we have to stop at 114, I suspect it'll be two burnouts and then it'll be a second gear start left hand side.

  38. Esteban OCONAlpine

Engineer: And you can switch off, we'll get some comments when you're plugged in, what you can tell over one lap anyway.
