Italian Grand Prix 2024: Race team radio
65 radio messages were recorded during race at the Italian Grand Prix 2024, across 18 drivers. 61 of them have a transcript; the rest are audio only. Max VERSTAPPEN had the most, with 8.
These are transcripts of real team radio audio, produced by speech recognition and presented as an archive rather than as edited prose. Radio is clipped and noisy, so wording can be imperfect. Each message is attributed to the driver or their engineer, and the original audio is playable in the archive.

Every message, in the order it happened
Fernando ALONSO: A bit of inconsistent engine between 6 and 7 or it was my impression?
Engineer: We will check between 6 and 7.
Engineer: Launch me back, you are on target, bring the throttle a little earlier.
Pierre GASLY: Brake pedal is already a bit long, we can just check that Efficiency doesn't feel great, but I'll let you guys check it.
Engineer: Okay, we'll take a good look
Engineer: In terms of wind, it looks like the gusts have slightly picked up in the last couple of minutes, so a bit more gusty.
Engineer: Update on weather, Charles. So, low chance of rain for now.
Engineer: Osco Tower Info, so the top six cars are New Medium, both Red Bulls, New Hards, and then towards the back of the grid, Hot Starters are Ocon, Tornado, Stroll and Bottas. Have a good race. Thank you.
Valtteri BOTTAS: Just reporting the gap the car I had left at the car ahead of him was way too big according to the wrecks.
Engineer: Okay, so you think Colopinto went a bit too slow there?
Valtteri BOTTAS: Yeah, way too slow. Understood.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Louis-Henri MacArthur I mean, I got the penalty for that, so...
Sergio PEREZ: George has a lot of damage. He's dangerous.
Engineer: Copy that.
George RUSSELL: That's
Engineer: who
George RUSSELL: just came across me in the braking zone. Check for damage front wing
Nico HULKENBERG: Gotta push me into the air Bravo
Engineer: Oscar we don't see graining on any cars yet. We think we need to get to at least Plan B target lap to clear traffic.
Engineer: Just keep it there for the moment Max, let them push that medium tyre hard.
Engineer: And Oscar, do you have an opinion on plan A versus plan B yet? I
Oscar PIASTRI: think plan A so far.
Esteban OCON: There's
Engineer: a
Esteban OCON: whistling noise, I don't know where it's coming from.
Engineer: Okay, understood, we'll look.
Engineer: Lando suggests we do Box to Overtake on Leclerc, Box to Overtake.
Engineer: So Norris is in. He should pit in traffic. Let's do some good laps.
Engineer: So the cars ahead are starting to struggle. This is where we make our race.
Carlos SAINZ: Thanks guys, we will struggle to go to the end.
Engineer: Understood.
Charles LECLERC: What was that? Why do we pit if we undercut?
Engineer: Lando, it's likely we will have to cover with the other car. It'll be papyrus.
Engineer: You are allowed to race Oscar papyrus
Max VERSTAPPEN: So how do we do this then?
Engineer: We just get all my dynamics
Engineer: And front runners are currently doing 23.2 Are
Lewis HAMILTON: they not dropping off?
Engineer: Not yet
Kevin MAGNUSSEN: Neither car has had damage, no consequence at all. 10 seconds. Makes sense.
Engineer: Norris starting to struggle. This is when Red Bull starting to have graining around lap 15 in the stint
Engineer: Okay, we've got a problem with the brake balance adjuster, so you need to go to driver default, Bravo 57 on.
Sergio PEREZ: What is he doing? He gives me the position and then he raised me?
Engineer: We've had to disable some PU performance, which is why you may have noticed the clips increase. Hopefully we'll get that back for you later
Lando NORRIS: I don't know why I'm delaying my shot left so much.
Engineer: So Magnussen still has that 10 second time penalty to serve, whether he pits or not. Yeah, but why would he waste, why would he waste my time?
Alexander ALBON: Tell me what you want to do, because I'm so indecisive all the time. You're giving me no space as well, you're doing me out, so what are you going to do?
Engineer: OK, well, whether he pits or doesn't pit, he has a 10 second time penalty and there's 20 laps to go.
Engineer: Oscar, how's the tyre? How long have we got?
Oscar PIASTRI: Yeah, not long. It's not getting that much worse, but I can't get past them.
Max VERSTAPPEN: When it's possible to defend, do you want me to race him?
Engineer: Yes please, yeah.
Engineer: Oscar, do you think there's any chance we can one-stop? I
Oscar PIASTRI: don't think so. Front left is pretty dead. Understood.
Engineer: So we've got Norris 14 seconds ahead and Sainz 24 ahead.
Lewis HAMILTON: Can't be so far behind.
Engineer: Tucked up being on Sainz for too long.
Engineer: Copy that Nico. We see it. Yep. Let's see if we can think of anything It's
Nico HULKENBERG: quite a lot of bouncing at the turning level It's pretty disturbing
Engineer: The Ferraris are going to try one. They think it's difficult, but they might as well try. So this is qualifying now. In the words of Stu, just try fast.
Engineer: It's
Nico HULKENBERG: quite a lot of bouncing at the turning level, it's pretty disturbing.
Engineer: We may have some damage because we see elevated bouncing everywhere so that may be the cause.
Carlos SAINZ: Yeah, my drone has been nearly gone, but I guess we'll try again.
Engineer: Copy, understood.
Engineer: Sainz saying his front left has gone but he's gonna hang it out let's see what times he sticks in
Engineer: And brake balance plus one.
Charles LECLERC: Leave me alone with this. If I don't do things you ask, don't ask ten times.
Engineer: We're happy to pick this up, push the tyres more. Currently forecast to catch right on the last lap.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Can people in the background please be awake? I know this is a *** position, but it's important.
Engineer: Yes, copy that, Max.
Charles LECLERC: But how you
Engineer: make
Charles LECLERC: me dream! How you
Engineer: make
Charles LECLERC: me dream! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Engineer: Yes!
Charles LECLERC: Great! One more time and we'll see you!
Engineer: Thank you Charles! Monaco and Monza are mine!
Charles LECLERC: Mamma mia! Mamma mia! This season is a real heartbreaker! Between highs and lows, mamma mia! But the highs
Engineer: are
Charles LECLERC: so beautiful! Thanks to everyone, really! To the whole company that did a great job to bring us the upgrades! Thanks to you! There's still a lot of work to
Engineer: do!
Charles LECLERC: But... At home! Again, like in 2019! Mamma mia! Great! Great!
Charles LECLERC: It's a great strategy, everything
Engineer: is
Charles LECLERC: great, even the car was going fast today, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Engineer: That's P2. Well done, Oscar. It was close, buddy. Really close. Yeah.
Oscar PIASTRI: Thank you.
Engineer: Okay Kev, I didn't tell you but you have actually got P10 because Alonso was coming up and didn't come through. We expected him to come through so you've got a point Kev, you've got a point. Well done, that was unbelievably hard work. So you lost the place to Albon but you stayed ahead of Alonso. Fantastic job mate, I'm really sorry how hard that was but you drove an excellent race there. Yeah, well done guys, well done. Car was good, we had good pace here, good deck. Yeah, I mean, speechless. There's a 10 second penalty and it's ******. But anyway, a point. Thanks everyone, thank you.
Engineer: Franco, that is a fantastic first race, you really didn't put a foot wrong, you finished a few seconds behind Alex, I think, you know, let's reflect on it this weekend, you had pace in qualifying, if we keep it clean, you're there and you're able to fight, well done, this is your first race and I can't wait to see how we build together.
Franco COLAPINTO: Thank you James, thank you for this opportunity, I really enjoyed it, I really, really enjoyed this weekend. You were right, I was going to have pain after this race, I never had so much pain in a race car before, I think we need to do a few things in the seat, but I really enjoyed it, thank you so much.
Nico HULKENBERG: Our race was kind of over on lap 1, I guess.
Engineer: Yeah, copy that. I think that was a really good pace on the last stint, so that was a highlight. Yeah, it's good they got a point.
Alexander ALBON: OK, nice job. It's P9, P9. Yeah.
Engineer: Alex, well done. You have no idea how tense that was from here on the last few laps. Well managed. We were about a second away from dropping a couple there, but P9's just reward for a strong drive. Well done. I think a lot to look at after the race, but this is where we start building forward.
Alexander ALBON: Well done, everyone. That was well managed.
Engineer: That
Alexander ALBON: was a different kind of race than last year, but it's still as intense.
ZHOU Guanyu: Yeah, I mean, I think the other one was better for the end, but yeah, I think the management was okay on my side, but not really the place to hold them.
Engineer: Yeah, you did a good job on the tires and also the overtaking phases, you got Stroll making a mistake there, that was good.
ZHOU Guanyu: Yeah, I left Valtteri behind just because I didn't have a place to hold him anyway. Yeah,
Engineer: that was smart.
Engineer: Good job, Max. That was a P6. Top three, Leclerc, Piastri, Norris. That was a good drive, Max. I'm sorry we couldn't give you a better car this weekend, but very good drive from you.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Yeah, at
Engineer: the
Max VERSTAPPEN: first, I guess everything went against us. I mean, not the power we wanted, not the pace, not the pit stops. But yeah, we have to work hard to change the car around.
Engineer: Yeah, we will, we will.
Valtteri BOTTAS: Yeah, unfortunately no luck with the safety car today, but I think we tried. Let's keep pushing.
Engineer: Yeah, it was a well-managed race with the tires, just lacking a little bit of pace.

Engineer: Good effort, Checo. I think that was the maximum that was in there today.
Sergio PEREZ: Yeah, we've got to work on this balance to bring us back. We killed the tyre, but we'll look at it.
Audio only, no transcript available for this message.
Lewis HAMILTON: Yeah, tough end too, not a good weekend mate, but we have to see another day, let's keep pushing, didn't have the pace today, but thanks for all the hard work, great stops guys.
Engineer: Yeah, thanks Lewis, this is one to pick up and analyse, but yeah, well done you, good drive.
George RUSSELL: Yeah, sorry I won't deserve better today.
Carlos SAINZ: bravi bravi bravi congrats guys you deserve it
Audio only, no transcript available for this message.
Pierre GASLY: Never felt as bad as today, so a lot of things to review because the car is bouncing everywhere, no brakes, absolutely no air grip all the way through, we'll talk after the race, but yeah, definitely not good, and a lot of work.
Engineer: Yep, we'll regroup mate, a lot of things to look after this weekend, a lot of areas we can improve, so...
Engineer: Ok Daniel, so again, all around on your side, I think you should be pleased. Last race, this race was all very clean jobs, so now we move to the flyaways. And we try to find a little bit more performance and put it in the next one.
Audio only, no transcript available for this message.
Esteban OCON: Yeah, well done, we tried, we tried, we gave it everything, so on to the next one.
Daniel RICCIARDO: Yep, understood. We'll keep keep at it.
Engineer: Yeah, let's keep working hard
