Singapore Grand Prix 2024: Practice 3 team radio

60 radio messages were recorded during practice 3 at the Singapore Grand Prix 2024, across 19 drivers. 54 of them have a transcript; the rest are audio only. George RUSSELL had the most, with 12.

These are transcripts of real team radio audio, produced by speech recognition and presented as an archive rather than as edited prose. Radio is clipped and noisy, so wording can be imperfect. Each message is attributed to the driver or their engineer, and the original audio is playable in the archive.

Who was on the radio

Every message, in the order it happened

  1. Fernando ALONSOAston Martin

Engineer: So we are told the track is clear, but just have a look for the lizard.

Fernando ALONSO: No, it's in the middle of the track.

  2. George RUSSELLMercedes

    Engineer: Where

George RUSSELL: do you want me? On tyres?

    Engineer: So

    George RUSSELL: targeting plus six

  3. Oscar PIASTRIMcLaren

Engineer: You have a 12-second gap ahead. Shouldn't be too bad for bunching.

  4. Esteban OCONAlpine

Engineer: We started the lap with quite low rear tyre temp still so let's see if we get an improvement on the next lap

  5. Esteban OCONAlpine

Esteban OCON: Yeah, copy. At the moment very bad instability on the turn-ins.

    Engineer: OK, copy that, understood.

  6. Lewis HAMILTONMercedes

Engineer: So snap turn three looks to be costing a couple of tenths looks like initiated from that front pinch

  7. George RUSSELLMercedes

George RUSSELL: My dash isn't updating, yeah,

Engineer: my dash isn't updating. Stop at two.

  8. Oscar PIASTRIMcLaren

Oscar PIASTRI: Balance already feels better than yesterday.

  9. Nico HULKENBERGHaas

Engineer: First pushing will be Ricardo, 11 behind.

  10. Max VERSTAPPENRed Bull

Max VERSTAPPEN: Everyone is just in the way, the whole lap. I can't, it's much better though.

  11. Esteban OCONAlpine

Esteban OCON: Yeah, the rear was a little bit better, but still it's quite loose I think on entries. Understood, Hamilton.

  12. ZHOU GuanyuKick Sauber

Engineer: Sliding of the grip. We think mid plus one for the slide.

  13. Pierre GASLYAlpine

Engineer: okay so exit of turn three we could gain some time we've got torque 10 available torque 10

  14. Pierre GASLYAlpine

Pierre GASLY: Wow, that was very very close

  15. George RUSSELLMercedes

George RUSSELL: I need a change of gloves for the next stint Aye

    Engineer: club

  16. Max VERSTAPPENRed Bull

Max VERSTAPPEN: Every time that Mac's steering lock at the entrance of corners, I lose the rear.

  17. Max VERSTAPPENRed Bull

Audio only, no transcript available for this message.

  18. George RUSSELLMercedes

  19. George RUSSELLMercedes

Audio only, no transcript available for this message.

  20. Max VERSTAPPENRed Bull

Engineer: How much of a step do you want, Max Herr? We can either recommend you torque 7 or mid 7 or both. I think we should try a quarter then, see what it does. Yep, OK. Then torque 7 and mid 7, please. And you have Piastri at 5.

  21. Yuki TSUNODARB

Yuki TSUNODA: We were looking at everything. Turn 14, I felt a bit of, I don't know, we were looking all instability. Second fish was a bit more instability on the nose.

  22. George RUSSELLMercedes

George RUSSELL: Still pretty understeery in turn three. I got him.

  23. Lando NORRISMcLaren

Engineer: And then the other one, if possible somewhere, can you do a first to second upshift with recharge off? Hamilton time lap just left turn nine and Verstappen six seconds behind him.

  24. Franco COLAPINTOWilliams

    Engineer: I

Franco COLAPINTO: started to lose arrears towards the end of the lap, 16 I was starting with the rear. With the lap I think I would still go up for the new set again.

  25. Valtteri BOTTASKick Sauber

Audio only, no transcript available for this message.

  26. ZHOU GuanyuKick Sauber

ZHOU Guanyu: I think what we can do is to change, because it's feeling too much sliding, both back and front. Yeah, we can talk in the garage.

  27. Pierre GASLYAlpine

Pierre GASLY: What's the other car's time?

Engineer: So Esteban's lap was a 33.3 That

Pierre GASLY: was the last lap

Engineer: so you've done an extra lap compared to him so on the fourth lap Same tire age you guys were doing identical lap times

  28. Carlos SAINZFerrari

Engineer: We will need a full lap on NG1 at the rest of the course.

  29. George RUSSELLMercedes

Engineer: Five to Perez. Strat one and double call here. Targeting minus 50.

  30. Alexander ALBONWilliams

Engineer: okay go switch the clerk in three okay go switch to go in you got the clerk opening six clerk in three that's empty on

  31. Franco COLAPINTOWilliams

Engineer: 2-2 Verstappen ahead, okay maybe a gap to the red ball ahead, number gap, minimum 7 SC2. Matthias will be slow, Hamilton slow as well in sync, so it's 5.

  32. Lewis HAMILTONMercedes

Engineer: Three and a half in terms of sectors two and a half sector one three and a half in the middle

  33. George RUSSELLMercedes

    Engineer: And 10th, 17th, mid-speed.

Lewis HAMILTON: That's still too late.

  40. Lando NORRISMcLaren

Engineer: There is Hamilton and science in turn 13. I've got a feeling science is gonna pit So I don't think you'll be there and I think the clerks gonna pit so it should be relatively clear ahead of you

Engineer: just stay on it for that sector. Yeah

Engineer: Yeah, Max is out there now. He's just done a 30.5

  43. Franco COLAPINTOWilliams

Engineer: Yeah, I cook the rear 63 at D4 as well. Yeah, I think there's a bit of being a bit more patient in that sector one. Not get the snap, that's also hurting the rest of the lap. But we'll talk when you're back.

  44. Lando NORRISMcLaren

Engineer: Adelando, thoughts on front wing?

  53. Lando NORRISMcLaren

    Engineer: Do

Lando NORRIS: I have time to go to the toilet or not?

  54. Charles LECLERCFerrari

Charles LECLERC: I just have no grip.

  55. Pierre GASLYAlpine
