Tuscan Grand Prix 2020: Qualifying team radio
28 radio messages were recorded during qualifying at the Tuscan Grand Prix 2020, across 12 drivers. 27 of them have a transcript; the rest are audio only. Carlos SAINZ had the most, with 6.
These are transcripts of real team radio audio, produced by speech recognition and presented as an archive rather than as edited prose. Radio is clipped and noisy, so wording can be imperfect. Each message is attributed to the driver or their engineer, and the original audio is playable in the archive.

Every message, in the order it happened
George RUSSELL: Confirmed 7th and 8th, not seat.
Nicholas LATIFI: Any front wing flap adjust? Any front wing flap adjust? No, happy to leave. Actually, half a turn more. Half a turn more.
George RUSSELL: Only fans, only fans, we're right.
Daniil KVYAT: I'm on the way to the bridge
George RUSSELL: Struggling with the rear sector one, compromised sector three a lot. We need to push the fuel more, we're not close to the fuel limit.
Carlos SAINZ: Important to know if that was tailwind or car just more unstable the
Engineer: whole lap Sector 1 was more tailwind, 6 second gap to the car in front that time
Engineer: And target minus two on the dash. Minus two. Yes, yes, I will be minus two at the end of the lap.
Engineer: Good lap mate, good lap. At the minute we're P10, we're just waiting for a lot of other cars to finish, I'll keep you posted. And we saw totally what happened with those Alphas.
Romain GROSJEAN: Yeah, that's obviously, there's no rules but that's just not good.
Engineer: Yep, understood.
Engineer: Potential race starts at max, so look after them on the way in.
Engineer: Unbox this lap please, just need to be negative on the Delta, just caution these could be your race start tyres so nice and easy on the way in.
Carlos SAINZ: Yeah, not good enough guys, we need weather management, please.
Engineer: OK guys, that's P12, box this lap.
Engineer: So the car will be a bit hotter than the first run in Q2.
Engineer: Everyone's going to have some problem with traffic because the Force India has ran so early. They're going to have a real tough time this lap with a lot of traffic. We need to make sure we don't impede Perez. Gap is seven seconds.
Engineer: P-12, Danny.
Daniil KVYAT: Yeah, OK. It was tricky with the event before, but we'll analyse later and still can race from there tomorrow.
Charles LECLERC: Are we through?
Engineer: Yes, we are.
Engineer: Okay, man, so we'll box now, box. Unfortunately, it's extremely, extremely tight. To get through is a 17-0-7. We were 17-3-4. Unfortunately, we're at the back, just behind Latifi, Russell, Gio, Gasly. Rahman snuck through in P-14 at 17-0-7.
Engineer: Scenario 6 and SOC 3. Scenario 6, SOC 3.
Carlos SAINZ: What is this?
Engineer: There's only four cars ahead of you to start a lap so it'll all be quite sensible. Science won't catch you on a hot lap so no threats at all, you're in a good place, temperatures look good.
Engineer: Heads up on the balance max.
Max VERSTAPPEN: That's fine. I just didn't have more grip. Okay understood
Daniel RICCIARDO: Yeah, lost the reel.
Carlos SAINZ: Yeah, it looks a bit windier right now
Engineer: So Carlos I don't think the wind is that much difference. I think as we've spoken about before the key thing is going to be to be consistent with the braking. Don't invent something with the braking. If you can do what you did in Q2 and put together turn 10, 11 and the last corner then that's the lap you're looking for.
Engineer: All right guys, let's go
Engineer: Looks like O'Connor just started moving, so double yellows three and four.
Audio only, no transcript available for this message.
Engineer: That was good
Engineer: What did you say we ended? Was it 8? So P8 is where we ended, so Leclerc and P5 did a 16.27 Alright, thank you anyways, guys I'll see you after this morning, thank you, we obviously had more pace than that Yeah, no worries, tomorrow that counts, I will make it count
Engineer: Yeah, well done Max. That last one run was just less than two tenths off Lewis's second run. So well done. Good job
Max VERSTAPPEN: Yeah, let's
Engineer: see
Max VERSTAPPEN: what we can do tomorrow
