Miami Grand Prix 2024: Practice 1 team radio
30 radio messages were recorded during practice 1 at the Miami Grand Prix 2024, across 15 drivers. Pierre GASLY had the most, with 4.
These are transcripts of real team radio audio, produced by speech recognition and presented as an archive rather than as edited prose. Radio is clipped and noisy, so wording can be imperfect. Each message is attributed to the driver or their engineer, and the original audio is playable in the archive.

Every message, in the order it happened
Lando NORRIS: Something doesn't feel right. It's much harder to turn right than it is left. It's really easy to turn left and really hard to turn right.
Engineer: Okay, understood.
Engineer: Just confirming wind, looks like a tailwind 15 kph through the high speed S's.
Engineer: I
Nico HULKENBERG: feel like the brakes don't work so well. All the big braking events, the retardation doesn't feel great or normal.
Engineer: Okay understood Nico, we'll check the efficiency and the brake balance. You can go to spark 2.
Engineer: Drive straight out. I mean, it feels the same to me. As in, the same as it was the last run, so not resolved. I need to go on track first, but it still feels super easy to turn left. In our data, the bit that we diagnosed, we see is improved. OK, I'll see you on track. Cool.
Lando NORRIS: I mean, it still doesn't feel amazing. It still feels harder to turn right than it does left
Engineer: For
Lando NORRIS: the time being but I'll just continue and see if it changes at all
Engineer: Okay
Alexander ALBON: There was a quite bad surging in third gear, very similar to China.
Yuki TSUNODA: It's really bad.
George RUSSELL: Let me know if you're happy with me here or if you want me to back off.
Max VERSTAPPEN: I'm front locking quickly at the peak.
Carlos SAINZ: What about turn 7 still on? Yeah, we
Engineer: are
Carlos SAINZ: looking into it. Microlux.
George RUSSELL: The upshift tires are quite loud in my ear.
Engineer: Copy.
Engineer: Introduction is good. Okay to push a bit more from next lap. Albon's on like 20 kilos right now.
Engineer: Okay, that's P3. You have a 12 second gap behind. Oskar, are you happy to switch to continuous or do you need another lap in push-pull-push?
Oscar PIASTRI: I'm happy to switch.
Pierre GASLY: I have a lot of oscillation in sector 2, through 13, 14, 15, in 2nd gear and 3rd gear.
Engineer: Ok, copy that.
Engineer: First gear conservative drop from the box conservative drop
Engineer: Oscar, we've come down two turns. You can go straight into continuous laps.
Engineer: George, so just for your reference, Lewis' last two laps were 32.1, 32.3.
Engineer: And Valtteri, we reprogrammed the car, so you'll just have to relearn the gears on this outlap.
Alexander ALBON: What is going on? Is that relocking or what?
Engineer: Copy, relocking.
Engineer: That was a gust of wind, tailwind there into that corner there Max.
Pierre GASLY: The rear was moving quite a lot through 6th, 7th, 8th,
Engineer: I
Pierre GASLY: don't know why, just a lot of freer strides.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Ah, the tires are way too hot, I have no grip to drive in my next rails.
Engineer: The others have gone, so the gap to the Gasly is nine ahead. Are you good for the gap ahead? Will we go one? Good.
Fernando ALONSO: Yeah, continuous running, I mean, it's impossible to drive.
Engineer: And just for if you wanted to do the soft it would be now you'd stop I'm okay to carry on
Engineer: No traffic So just easy on these tires
Sergio PEREZ: Yeah quite bad the sharpness and then on the steering to eight so we Let's not chase it with the flap
Engineer: Yeah, we'll have a look at things going into SQ
Engineer: and if we can go sock six that'll be sock six and for the next lap suggest not using the top right for turn 17 look
Pierre GASLY: at the ride all that middle middle sector okay like the car is shaking quite a lot okay
Engineer: we'll take a look still no threats behind Verstappen back in turn 11 pushing are you happy with front wing for this final lap yeah
Pierre GASLY: just let me know how much time I have for the last wheel down yep
Engineer: we are looking at it let's just stick to the Delta if we can
Engineer: Yep, no, that's my bad mate. I've got some issues here, but we'll look at it. So we're going to the grid go recharge on
Engineer: So all cars have obviously taken the chequered flag. We're now going to the grid to do a start.
Kevin MAGNUSSEN: Reminds
Engineer: us
Kevin MAGNUSSEN: that traffic pretty badly.
Engineer: Yeah.
Engineer: SPARK 2 please Kev, SPARK 2
Esteban OCON: I'm losing the front of the halo.
Engineer: Understood. Fox now practice pit stop.
