Alpine finished 27 of their first 28 race entries in 2026, and Pierre Gasly took the team's first pole under the Alpine name at Monza. Then the finishing record broke, and in Mexico City both cars lost their points to yellow flag penalties. The season race by race.
For fourteen races of 2026, an Alpine had failed to finish once. Then both cars went out at Turn 1 in Baku, in the same accident, hit by each other, and two weeks later Colapinto stopped in Singapore.
Until Baku no other team came close. Now Alpine have five cars unclassified in 38 entries, against two for Mercedes and twenty for Aston Martin.
Alpine are sixth in the constructors' championship on 69 points. In Mexico City both cars crossed the line in the points, eighth and tenth, and both lost them after the race for not slowing enough under yellow flags. Gasly beat George Russell to pole at Monza by 0.060 seconds, with both Alpines in the top eight, and at the circuit where he won his only Grand Prix in 2020. It was the first pole of 2026 not taken by Mercedes or McLaren, although, as Alpine now use Mercedes power units, it kept the run of poles on Mercedes engines going. That run reached fifteen before Max Verstappen took the last two for Red Bull. In the race he finished seventh and Colapinto ninth. Alpine switched to Mercedes power units for 2026, and the four Mercedes-powered teams show how much the rest of the car and the operation matter. Counting cars left unclassified on the same engine, Mercedes have 2 in 38 entries, Alpine 5, McLaren 7 and Williams 8. Four of Alpine's five came in the last five races, and two of those were one accident between team mates. Every team's record is in every 2026 F1 retirement.
Finishing is not the same as scoring, though. Almost half of Alpine's points, 32 of 69, came from Gasly's first seven races, when he scored in six of them. Colapinto's best spell was Miami and Canada, seventh then sixth.
At Barcelona, Alpine told its drivers to swap positions, and the engineer made it clear it was not a request:
EngineerOkay, Frank, this is an instruction. We need to switch cars into turn one. Please switch into turn one. Switch cars? Paper. Two into turn four, please. Turn four, switch the cars.

"This is an instruction. We need to switch cars." Colapinto finished tenth that day and Gasly seventh.
Colapinto crossed the line eighth in Mexico City, his best result since Madrid, and Gasly tenth. After the race the stewards penalised both for not slowing enough under yellow flags: Colapinto received 10 seconds and a penalty point for a single yellow sector, Gasly a stop and go converted to time and two penalty points for a double yellow. They were classified 15th and 17th, which promoted Ryo Hirakawa into tenth for a point on his debut.
