Franco Colapinto finished 2025 twentieth in the championship, without a point. Nineteen races into 2026 he has 27, and for the first fourteen he was the only driver on the grid who had taken the chequered flag in every race.
The turnaround came with a new Alpine running Mercedes power units, and it came early: tenth in China, seventh in Miami, then sixth in Canada, the best result of his Formula 1 career. He has scored in eight of nineteen races and is twelfth in the championship. The run of finishes ended in Baku, where he caused a collision with his own team mate, and he has not scored since seventh in Madrid. He came closest in Mexico City, eighth on the road, before a 10 second penalty for not slowing under a yellow flag dropped him to 15th.
