Cadillac's first Formula 1 season, measured: no points yet, fourteen cars unclassified and a new team principal
Cadillac joined Formula 1 in 2026 with Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas, two drivers with sixteen Grand Prix wins between them. Nineteen races in, the team has not scored, has had fourteen of its thirty-eight cars unclassified, and has changed team principal. Every race, measured.
Cadillac arrived in Formula 1 in 2026 as the sport's first new team in a decade, with two drivers who have won sixteen Grands Prix between them. Nineteen races later, it is the only team without a point.
Sergio Perez's best result is fourteenth. Valtteri Bottas's is thirteenth, in China. Fourteen of the team's 38 race entries have ended unclassified, the second worst record on the grid after Aston Martin, and after eleven races the team replaced its founding team principal, Graeme Lowdon, with Marcin Budkowski.

Probably not the engine
Cadillac runs Ferrari power units, which is worth separating from its results. Ferrari's own cars have been unclassified in 3 of 38 entries this season and Haas, the other Ferrari customer, in 6 of 38. Cadillac's 14 does not follow the engine maker's pattern, which points to the rest of a car and a race operation built from scratch rather than to the power unit.
That is the useful contrast with Aston Martin, whose problems have been traced to its new engine partner, Honda.
Two experienced drivers at the back
Perez won six Grands Prix for Red Bull and Bottas ten for Mercedes. Neither raced in 2025, and both have spent 2026 fighting at the back of the grid in a car that has started between sixteenth and twenty-second in every race so far.
For both of them, finishing is the first target. Neither has yet finished higher than thirteenth, and the gap to the lowest points-scoring teams, Aston Martin on 7 and Williams on 12, is small in points.
What is left
Both Cadillacs' last two weekends ended with Bottas out: his car sounded wrong in Austin and he stopped after 48 laps, and in Mexico City his front left suspension failed under braking for turn 1, putting him into the barrier and bringing out a red flag. He was unhurt. Perez finished both races, sixteenth at his home Grand Prix. Four rounds remain: Sao Paulo, Las Vegas, the team's second American race, Qatar and Abu Dhabi. An unclassified car includes crashes as well as failures. The count follows the official classification, so a car that stopped near the end but had covered enough laps, like Bottas in Baku, counts as classified. It was recounted on 18 October.
The engine comparison is a guide, not a verdict. Three teams using the same power unit have very different records, which suggests the power unit is not the main cause, but it does not prove it.
