Ferrari's 2026 season, measured: two wins in three weeks, no poles, and a year of what ifs
Ferrari are second in the 2026 constructors' championship on 358 points. Lewis Hamilton won in Barcelona and Charles Leclerc at Silverstone three weeks later, but the team has not taken a pole, and three of Leclerc's races ended off the track. The season race by race.
On 14 June Lewis Hamilton won his first Grand Prix for Ferrari in Barcelona. Three weeks later, Charles Leclerc won at Silverstone for the first time. Those are Ferrari's two wins of 2026 so far.
Between them they have scored 358 points, second in the constructors' championship and 145 behind Mercedes, with nine Grand Prix podiums. What Ferrari have not done is take a pole: all fourteen of 2026 have gone to Mercedes-powered cars. And the season has a long list of races that got away, most of them Leclerc's.

Two wins, three weeks apart
Barcelona, 14 June. Hamilton started second and won with an aggressive undercut and a well-timed stop under the virtual safety car. It was the 106th win of his career, his first for Ferrari and his first in 686 days. His message after the flag thanked the team, the factory, his family and the fans, "for continuing to remind me who I am":

Silverstone, 5 July. Leclerc started second, took the lead with a flying start, and won behind a late safety car, his ninth career win and his first at Silverstone. Hamilton was third, the only race of the season with both Ferraris on the podium.
The races that got away
Leclerc's season is the story of the car stopping him. At Monaco he was running third at home when his brakes failed after a safety car restart:

"Please f***ing brake!" In Barcelona a hydraulic failure put him in the gravel with a handful of laps left, and at Monza he crashed out on lap 2 at the Parabolica. Hamilton's only non-finish came in Madrid, a few laps in, with a brake failure: "I don't have brakes, guys."
Two brake-related retirements in one season, one for each driver, is the pattern worth watching. After Monaco, Leclerc switched to Hamilton's brake configuration.
Where Ferrari stand
Ferrari are clearly the second force in 2026, well ahead of McLaren on points despite McLaren's two wins, and quick enough on race day to win twice. But qualifying tells a different story. Every pole has gone to a Mercedes-powered car, and Ferrari's best qualifying results are front-row starts, not poles. Toto Wolff has argued that there is little to choose between the Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari power units; the pole record so far does not show it.
