Liam Lawson's 2026 season, measured: three races in the Red Bull, and points in four of five since
Red Bull dropped Liam Lawson after two races in 2025. In 2026 he got the seat back for three races while Isack Hadjar was injured, then returned to Racing Bulls and scored in four of the next five. Every race, and the radio.
In 2025 Red Bull gave Liam Lawson two races before replacing him with Yuki Tsunoda. In August 2026, with Isack Hadjar's wrist broken, they gave him the car back.
He has now driven it three more times: seventh at Zandvoort after a ten-second penalty, fourteenth at Monza after starting from the pit lane, and sixth in Madrid. That was 14 points in the Red Bull. Back at Racing Bulls from Baku, he has scored in four of the five races since: seventh at Sepang, fifth in the Singapore sprint and seventh in the race, ninth in Austin and seventh in Mexico City from 22nd on the grid. He has 83 points, ninth in the championship.

The season in numbers
83 points, ninth in the championship: 69 for Racing Bulls, 14 for Red Bull. He returned to Racing Bulls in Baku once Isack Hadjar was fit.

Back at Racing Bulls: points in four of five races
Twelfth in Baku, on his first race back in the Racing Bulls, was the low point. Since then he has scored 24 points in four weekends: seventh at Sepang from eleventh, fifth in the Singapore sprint and seventh on Sunday, ninth in Austin, and seventh in Mexico City after starting from the back of the grid.

Zandvoort. His first race back in the car, at the last Dutch Grand Prix. He finished seventh after a ten-second penalty for ignoring yellow flags.
Monza. The car took a new internal combustion engine, turbocharger and exhaust, among other parts, beyond the season's allocation, which meant a back-of-the-grid start. Red Bull then changed the rear wing and suspension set-up under parc fermé, which sent him to the pit lane instead. He made contact with Nico Hulkenberg during the race, and apologised to the team on the radio:

Four rounds remain: Sao Paulo, Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Lawson is ninth, 24 points behind Hadjar and 41 clear of Pierre Gasly in tenth.
