Williams scored eleven of their twelve 2026 points in the first six rounds, and one in the thirteen races since Monaco. Eight of their 38 cars have ended unclassified, the most of any team on a Mercedes engine. Every race for Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon, measured.

The first six rounds were respectable for a midfield team: points in four of them. From Barcelona onward, Williams have finished in the top ten once in thirteen races. That was Sainz in Baku. Mexico City was the next closest call: Albon eleventh and Sainz twelfth, after post-race penalties moved them both up. The two teams behind them in the championship, Aston Martin on 7 and Cadillac on 0, are the only ones that have scored less.
The grid positions barely moved: both drivers have started around sixteenth on average all year. The change came on Sunday: from finishing on the edge of the top ten to finishing between thirteenth and eighteenth.
Williams use the same Mercedes power unit as Mercedes, McLaren and Alpine, which makes the reliability record hard to put on the engine. Eight unclassified cars on it compares with two for the works team and four for Alpine. Every team's record is in every 2026 F1 retirement.
Monaco, their best afternoon, produced the season's most human strategy exchange. Sainz's engineer asked what he thought of the backup plan:

"Err, repeat what was Plan B, now I forgot it." Albon finished eighth that day, and his engineer's message afterwards mentioned what the car had been fighting all weekend:
