The circuit at Paul Ricard sits on a plateau in southern France and is instantly recognisable for its distinctive blue-and-red striped run-off areas. The layout mixes long straights, including the fast Mistral, with technical corners, and is famous for the sheer number of configurations it can be arranged into, a flexibility that has made it a mainstay of testing and racing over many years.
A long-standing venue in grand prix history, its unusual run-off and adaptable design have made it a familiar sight across the decades. The wide, open expanse and the flexibility of its layout give it a character quite unlike the tighter, more hemmed-in circuits elsewhere on the calendar.
