Silverstone is fast, flowing and famous for its high-speed corners. The names alone tell the story, Copse, the Maggotts and Becketts sequence, Stowe, corners taken at enormous speed that ask for real aerodynamic confidence and a car the driver can lean on. Carrying momentum through those sweeps, rather than braking and accelerating, is the key to a quick lap, and the exposed site can turn the weather in an instant.
It is one of the founding homes of world championship grand prix racing, and its quick, sweeping character has thrilled drivers for generations. Combined with huge, knowledgeable crowds and that changeable weather, the heritage of the place makes it a firm favourite on the calendar.
